Iranian cartoonist Mahmoud Mohammad Tabrizi has been awarded at the eighth edition of International Biennial of Caricature, The Golden Smile, in Belgrad, Serbia.


Mohammad Tabrizi has picked up the Bronze Medal along with a cash prize of EUR 500 at this year’s competition.

The festival’s Golden Medal went to the Serbian artist Zoran Petrovic, while the Russian cartoonist Andrei Popov received the Silver Medal of the contest.

The other Iranian cartoonist Ali Reza Pakdel, who also took part in the festival, along with some other selected artists received the contest’s Diploma.

Some 250 works by 165 cartoonists from 45 countries competed at the contest. The works were selected from among 1000 submitted ones.

The participants of the 2012 contest were required to illustrate their works with the theme of ‘Tennis’.

The exhibition of eighth International Biennial of Caricature is to kick off on December13 and will run until December 27, 2012.
