Female Palestinian prisoner from the west Bank town of Jenin was deported from the blockaded ‎Gaza Strip by Israeli authorities. ‎

She was on hunger-strike for nearly fifty day protesting her re-arrest and administrative ‎detention. ‎

Israeli forces have deported the Palestinian prisoner Hana Shalaby to the Gaza Strip. Shalaby, a Palestinian woman from the West Bank, has been on hunger strike since mid February to protest Israel’s administrative detention.

Her exile for three years in Gaza was a precondition for her release.

Upon her arrival through the Israeli controlled Erez crossing, she was rushed to hospital for medical treatment.

During her detention Shalaby was held in the Hasharon prison which is known for poor medical care and the lack of hygienic conditions.

Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh visited Hana Shalaby at hospital and said the government in Gaza will spare no effort to help reunite her with her family in the West Bank.

Gazans held many sit-ins in solidarity with Hana Shalaby and other Palestinian prisoners. They gathered again in front of the office of the international committee of the Red Cross, demanding an end to the suffering of prisoners inside Israeli jails.

During the first week of detention, her lawyers said Hana was beaten, blindfolded and placed in solitary confinement.
